Becoming a Volunteer in School
We always welcome the support of volunteer parents, grandparents and carers in our school. From helping in the classrooms, library, cookery room or garden, taking part in the reading support groups, joining the committee of the HSA or becoming a School Governor, you can provide invaluable support.
We have a variety of opportunities available, including listening to readers or working with small groups in class, organising resources in the classroom, gardening and working in the library. You will appreciate that we need to keep our children safe, and as such we have a number of safeguarding checks that need to be carried out prior to volunteering. We’ve made it as simple as we can whilst still being compliant with the law and following Hampshire County Council guidelines – the link below outlines the application process, the checks you’ll need to undertake and the documentation you’ll need to provide.
We’ve always loved welcoming parent/carer volunteers into school as part of our Heatherside family. Please contact the School Office if you are interested in volunteering in our school. Whether you can commit to a weekly morning/afternoon, or whether you have a shorter/less frequent amount of time, we welcome all forms of volunteering - even being able to spend half an hour to listen to children read is such a help and very much appreciated.

All volunteers will be asked to sign that they have read these documents as part of the initial recruitment process and the annual refresher safeguarding training.
