Story telling at Heatherside
"The story teller was really good. He put lots of different stories into one and it was actually quite exciting!"
All three year groups were enchanted and enthralled by professional storyteller, Chris Connaughton (Intext Performance), who delivered a wonderful version of The Elves and the Shoemaker to begin our Spring Term topic of Traditional Tales.
Excitedly the children joined in with words and phrases, sound effects and character voices and as they did so they absorbed new vocabulary, explored rhyme, developed their listening skills and examined emotions and expression all whilst having lots of fun!
More fun followed in the Year 1 and Year 2 workshops which gave the children lots of tips for turning their drama into creative writing too!
A HUGE thank you to the HSA for funding this fantastic learning experience for the children .
Our Year 1 and Year 2 children provided some quotes about the day:
"The storyteller told us a story and he
did lots of actions and different stories" Year 1 pupil
"The storyteller was good at acting and he was good at doing
sounds and he was doing every character and it was amazing" Year 2 pupil
