Heatherside Infant School

ECO Council

The new Eco Council members for 2018/19 met with Mrs Williams for the first time at the start of the Autumn Term.  We were each were given our green Eco Council badge to wear on our uniform and a certificate to take home.

We talked about our first objective - continuing to keep up our school's excellent reputation for recycling food waste.  Each member of the Eco Council is responsible for ensuring our green food bin is outside on the playgrounds for every playtime, and brought back in before the end of the school day. This means our playtime fruit and vegetable food waste is collected for composting.

We are continuing with our drive to reduce our use of plastics in the school and are working with some other local schools to share our ideas. Please take a look at the report Mrs Williams wrote after our visit to Velmead School in October 2018.
